US Army Establishes New Robotics Technician Job Specializing in Drone Warfare
The U.S. Army has created a new military occupational specialty, 390A robotics technician, to focus on the use of robotic and autonomous systems, particularly in drone warfare. An induction ceremony was held this month, introducing 10 warrant officers into this role. These technicians will serve as subject-matter experts in programming, building, repairing, and integrating these systems into combat operations. The specialization aims to provide dedicated expertise, preventing the overburdening of existing special warfare operators. These technicians will be assigned to brigade and group level formations to advise commanders on autonomous system deployment and troubleshoot field issues.
