Naval Group Introduces Enlarged, Enhanced FDI Frigate Variant at Euronaval 2026

Naval Group has unveiled a larger and more powerful variant of its FDI frigate at Euronaval 2026. This new version features an extended hull, increasing its displacement to approximately 5,400 tonnes and its length to nearly 131 meters. The modifications allow for enhanced combat capabilities, including expanded weapons systems like additional missile launchers and loitering munitions, as well as increased accommodation and fuel storage. The company states these changes are achievable without technical risk due to the original design's flexibility and do not impact the vessel's speed due to more powerful engines.
