Sweden Selects Saildrone for Year-Long Baltic Sea Maritime Domain Awareness Mission
Saildrone will deploy and operate four Voyager unmanned surface vehicles (USVs) for 360 days each in Sweden's Baltic Sea territorial waters and exclusive economic zone. This year-long mission, representing 1,440 contracted vehicle-days, aims to provide persistent Maritime Domain Awareness (MDA) for the Swedish Armed Forces. The deployment is the first under the Nordic Defence Cooperation (NORDEFCO) framework, allowing Nordic nations to procure Saildrone MDA services. Saildrone will manage the USVs as a service, delivering real-time maritime intelligence.
Why it matters
This is the first national deployment of Saildrone USVs under the NORDEFCO framework, enabling rapid procurement of MDA services by Nordic nations.
