USS Colorado Designated First Submarine for AUKUS Submarine Rotational Force-West
The USS Colorado (SSN 788) has been named the first U.S. Navy Virginia-class fast-attack submarine to be assigned to Submarine Rotational Force-West (SRF-West), starting in late 2027. This initiative, based at HMAS Stirling in Western Australia, aims to host up to four U.S. and one UK fast-attack submarine rotationally. SRF-West is intended to enhance Australia's capability to operate and maintain nuclear-powered submarines and support AUKUS partner submarine deployments.
