Naval Group Starts Production of Sweden's First FDI Frigate Luleå One Month After Contract

Naval Group has commenced production of the Royal Swedish Navy's first FDI frigate, named FDI Luleå, at its shipyard in Lorient, France. This marks the beginning of manufacturing just one month after the contract for four frigates was signed on August 31, 2026. The first delivery is scheduled for 2030, with subsequent deliveries planned through 2034. The program aims to enhance Sweden's naval air-defense and anti-submarine warfare capabilities.
