Singapore Navy Launches First New Sentinel-Class Offshore Patrol Vessel in Germany

The Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN) launched its first Sentinel-class Offshore Patrol Vessel (OPV), named Sentinel, in Germany on October 1, 2026. Built by German shipbuilder Fassmer, the vessel is one of four ordered by Singapore to address increased operational demands and expand maritime security missions. These vessels will replace the current Maritime Security and Response Vessels (MSRVs) and are expected to enter service from 2028. The new OPVs are based on Fassmer’s OPV90 Mk II design and incorporate features for extended maritime security operations, including helicopter facilities and RHIB launch bays.
